History of Block Panchayat
The history of the Pampakuda region is closely linked to the rural culture and agricultural heritage of central Kerala. Situated in the Muvattupuzha Taluk of Ernakulam district, Pampakuda has been a major rural area since ancient times, relying heavily on agriculture and trade. The cultivation of agricultural crops such as rubber, coconut, and black pepper played a vital role in the economic growth of this region. Block Panchayats were formed as part of the Panchayat Raj system implemented to strengthen democratic decentralization and rural self-governance in Kerala. Subsequently, the Pampakuda Block Panchayat also commenced its operations as a local self-government institution, coordinating the development activities of the constituent Grama Panchayats.
